Alarm permits and registration across Tampa Bay
People search “Tampa alarm permit” and get one answer that is wrong for half the bay. The address decides, not the metro name.

How much is ADT in Tampa Bay right now?
Promotional packages commonly start around $36.99/mo Traditional, about $52.99 Remote, about $62.99 Video & Automation, plus a $99 install and a new monitoring agreement. Early termination fees apply. Your floor plan changes equipment. Pinellas may add registration, not a Tampa city permit.
Do you cover St. Pete, Brandon, and Town ’n’ Country?
Yes. Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco, plus nearby cities like Lakeland and Bradenton. Call with the ZIP to confirm.
Do I need an alarm permit in the City of Tampa?
No residential permit is required inside Tampa city limits. Tampa runs a false-alarm program. Unincorporated Hillsborough is not automatically the same. Pinellas is the paperwork-heavy side: SHARP and city programs in St. Pete and Clearwater.
What is Pinellas SHARP?
The Sheriff’s Alarm Registration Program. Unincorporated Pinellas and many contract cities require you to register the system. Signup is typically free. St. Petersburg and Clearwater run their own programs instead of (or in addition to) thinking “Tampa rules.”
Will this work when lightning knocks out Spectrum?
Ask for cellular backup and battery by name. Florida led the U.S. in lightning property-damage claims in 2025 (Insurance Information Institute). A camera that dies with the router is not monitoring.
What should I do with the system if I evacuate?
Arm Away from the ADT app once people and pets are in the car. Put someone who is not already on I-75 on the call list. Know your county evacuation zone (A–E) separately — the alarm watches the house; it does not replace leaving.
Do you put sensors on sliding glass doors?
Yes. Sliding glass and garage doors are part of a normal Tampa install, along with the other exterior doors and first-floor windows.
The resale still has an ADT keypad. Now what?
Photograph it. Do not rip it off. Reactivation is common on Carrollwood, Brandon, Largo, and West Tampa closings and is often cheaper than a full replace.
Will my Florida insurer discount this?
Many carriers still credit a professionally monitored burglar and fire alarm. DIY self-watch usually does not qualify. After install, ask for the ADT certificate and send it to the agent. That is separate from Florida wind-mitigation credits.
I am a snowbird. Can you monitor an empty house until November?
Yes — that is a common Apollo Beach, Sun City Center, Clearwater, and Bradenton job. Cellular backup plus a Florida-based backup name on the call list. Do not rely on checking a camera from Ohio.
MacDill PCS — can you transfer or start clean?
Often. Photograph the panel, say it is a MacDill move, and tell us whether you own the house. Offers are for homeowners. Transfer vs. new install depends on the board that is actually on the wall.
Do HOAs in Westchase, FishHawk, or Wiregrass allow cameras?
Village by village. Some allow a doorbell, some do not, some want the yard sign out of the grass. We design inside the covenant. Monitoring does not care about the HOA.

A SafeStreets technician. They install, test, and walk the keypad and app. ADT is the monitoring company — not the person in your hallway.
Same-day install?
Often in Hillsborough and central Pinellas. Farther Pasco or Lakeland may be next-day. Dock lots and HOA camera approvals can add a day. Ask on the call.
